SMB Owners Speak Out this Election Season

All politicians, regardless of party, cite small business creation and growth as the remedy for the country’s current economic malaise. But while candidates claim they know and support small business, what do the owners themselves have to say?

A recent study cosponsored by thumbtack and the Graduate School of Political Management of George Washington University polled a representative cross-section of owners across the US. These 6,000 businesses included men- and women-owned businesses, self-proclaimed Democrats and Republicans, all states, varying business sizes and various industries.

Interesting but not really that surprising, owners care more about the overall economy and fair government than partisanship:

“What is the single most important issue in your choice for President?”

And as good business people they care most about unemployment and federal budget deficit. (Taxes were only cited as a main concern for 6% of owners.) For more details on the survey and analysis visit
